New Mexico

Our first breakfast burrito...and in Socorro!

Great place, where the locals go! Drive through, too!!

New Mexico

We found a really special place, the Mineral Museum at New Mexico Tech in Soccorro. Aaron help us with some nice gems and minerals to bring back to Poultney...especially beautiful are the smithsonite pieces!
Many thanks.

New Mexico

Doing some neat hiking in the Bosque...spectacular sights...a long day...

New Mexico

Sandhill cranes and all kinds of ducks were still around when we visited the Bosque NWR.

Nest time we'll try to get there when more birds are overwintering...still a gorgeous sight!

New Mexico

Near the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge in the southern part of New Mexico. This area is home to the sanhill cranes during the winter...

New Mexico

Beautiful scenes from the Salinas Missions National Monument, a series of three missions near Mountainair, NM.
Look at that kiva, interesting how the Spanish priests incorporated the native architecture into their churches here.

New Mexico

One of the first Spanish resettlements of native Americans in New Mexico, the Abo National Monument, part of the Salinas Missions NM in NM!
We won't go over the details of what the Spanish priests, missionaries, and soldiers did to the native peoples all in the name of civilization...
...this all along the old main route from Mexico City to Santa Fe, the El Camino Real...
